Exploring the Farmers Markets of Tarrant County: A Guide

Are you looking for a unique way to explore the many farmers markets in Tarrant County? Look no further! This guide will provide you with all the information you need to make the most of your experience. At these farmers markets, you can find a variety of vendors selling fresh produce, jams and pickled vegetables in jars, pasture-raised meats, eggs and honey, freshly baked breads and other ready-made items. You can also find rare plants that your children may not recognize, artisanal and specialty foods from homegrown, and items handmade by Texas manufacturers. Plus, there are plenty of activities for the little ones, such as free stickers from farmers or ranchers, free popsicles from meat vendor K Bar K and free flavored honey straws from honey vendors.

The Shed at the Dallas Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 9 to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 10 to 5 p.m., while Cowtown Farmers Market requires everyone to grow or produce their products within 150 miles. The Grand Prairie Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8 to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 10 to 4 p.m., all year round.

Frisco has a farmers' market with 92 seats available, open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, year-round, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon (June through August). White Settlement is home to the oldest and most exclusive farmer's market in Tarrant County, open Saturdays from 8 to 4 p.m., Sundays from 10 to 4 p.m., all year round. Bonton Farms is a non-profit organization that is much more than a farmers market - it also operates an urban farm with resident goats, a cafe (open for breakfast and lunch) and a coffee shop with the purpose of building a community in the eponymous neighborhood of South Dallas. McKinney has more than 75 vendors showing up every Saturday throughout the year at their farmer's market with freshly harvested fruits, vegetables and flowers; high-quality meats from ranchers in the area; artisanal and specialty foods from homegrown; and items handmade by Texas manufacturers. The city's Main Street Fest in April is also an exciting time for families as the market grounds are converted into a children's area with games, crafts and gardening activities.
